Welcome to Lake Wylie!  Lake Wylie is located approximately 13 miles southwest of Uptown Charlotte.  Lake Wylie's 325 miles of shoreline spans York County SC, Mecklenburg County NC and Gaston County NC.  Lake Wylie is an artificial reservoir that was created in 1904 when the Catawba River was dammed for hydro-electric purposes.  Duke Power currently manages a system of dams spanning the Carolinas for the purpose of power generation.
